The exposed fetus and its behavioural development
This symposium is dedicated to behavioural development of healthy fetuses influenced by various environmental exposures.
We invited experts and young investigators from various institutes presenting possible fetal and neonatal adaptations to intrauterine exposure from e.g. medication, stress and environmental restriction. Applied methods of investigation vary from sonography to magnetic resonance imaging. In all studies a longitudinal approach is applied to facilitate observation of long-term consequences.
The symposium precedes the PhD ceremony of Bianca F. Fong. Her work on fetal breech presentation and impact on perinatal posture and locomotion is the result of a longstanding collaboration between the Faculty of Human Movement Sciences of the VU and department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of the VU university medical centre in Amsterdam within the Research Institute MOVE.
